Review by Cathy : Good Quality Flip Seat for Potty Training

This is awesome! The magnet is strong and the white is a true bright white. No leaning or anything weird. You wont even know its there. The flip is fast and easy - great for small bathrooms or those who don't like clutter of floor style potty chairs...though you may need a step stool for beginners. The magnet does have a very strong sticker covering it - don't try to peel the sticker off like I did! Goof! I mistook it for a typical "packaging" sticker and kept picking at it - then realized what it was, half way peeled. Luckily, it has mostly re-adhered! Great product so far, and installed fast - you do have to use the bolts that come with it - fits both flat or phillips screwdriver, and easy to do.

Seems pretty good so far. Interesting that you can just pop the whole seat off for cleaning without having to remove bolts- could be a useful feature if kids make a big "mess". However, all of the hardware is made of plastic (bolts, nuts, hinges) so I wonder how long it will last over time. The regular seat and lid are made of some kind of "recycled wood material" whatever that is, but they seem pretty sturdy. The child's seat is plastic, but the magnets work well. It all functions well so far, and is attractive enough to look at. A note- the opening on the kids seat is slightly smaller than the temporary kids seat we were using that you just sit on top of the regular seat, then take off when kid is done. But it definitely reduces clutter, is much cleaner, and much easier than dealing with the type of seat I mentioned above.

I bought this seat for a more permanent solution to replace a soft "elmo" potty seat used by 2 year old twins (boy and girl). The quality is great and looks like any standard toilet seat when closed. The small child's seat is easy for a kid to pull down. The seat works perfectly for our little girl. It does not work for out little boy. I cannot tell you how many times we had to clean up outside of the toilet after he used it. My complaint is that this could easily have been fixed had they placed a little shield in the front. I review this a 5 for girls and a 1 for boys.

Works well.As a side note, the lid and seat are both smoothly rounded along the outer edge, making it a pleasant experience to lift and lower. (Every other toilet seat I've owned had more of a 90-degree angle on the bottom... a less welcoming touch.)

Very minor point, but a good differentiator. :)

I was excited to receive this because my granddaughter needed a little too much help getting her seat onto the toliet when she needed to go potty. She was so empowered when we installed it and she could handle things herself! BUT within 40 days, the adult part of the seat cracked. Now it needs to be replaced and we are just beyond the date when you can return this item. I don't think I will order another from this company.

I was very excited to purchase and install this seat and forever banish the always present 'potty chair' in our bathroom(we have 5 children ages 7 years-3 mos: 4 boys, 1 girl). I presented it with a flourish- as a Christmas present to the family(OK a little lame, but funny). After an easy 10 second assembly and a 2 minute installation, we were ready to give it a run... but no little kids had the urge so we waited. In fact, I was at work the next day when it got its trial run... which resulted in kiddie urine all over the floor and throw rug. What??? It turns out that the little drop down seat does not allow little legs to be spread far enough to allow little uhhhmmm 'privates' to be pointed downward. This resulted in a forward direction of the little 'privates' and a urine stream over the edge of the seat. Turns out, it works great for little girls(no further explanation needed) but not as well for little boys. On the plus side, the adult seat is fine and the drop down kiddie seat makes a great conversation piece for first time visitors.... Do normal people talk about their toilet seat????? And does anybody really want to see a video review of this item???

My friend suggested this for us -- and it's great! It made all the difference in encouraging my little guy to sit on "the big potty" because he had his own comfortable seat that he could get down himself. And we love that the child's seat doesn't automatically come down when the toilet lid is raised. But the best part??? No more cleaning out little training potties. Man, I don't miss that AT ALL!

This seemed like the ideal product. However, the easy clean release system that holds the child sized seat in place is a problem. It releases so easily that my son will move the whole seat out of place when he slides himself into position. This is not an issue if we place him on the seat ourselves, but he's independent minded and doesn't care for that. I really like the product otherwise, (excellent durable quality, no thin plastic) but I wouldn't buy it again due to this flaw in the design. We also have no problem with the fact that it is flat and we have a boy-we just tell him to point down and he does. He is under two so we think he's doing pretty well considering. Incidentally, for those impressed with the quality of the adult seat, does everyone know that it is super easy to buy and replace regular toilet seats? Big box home improvement stores carry them for less than $20. Nobody should have to live with those thin plastic ones the toilet comes with. Also, you can change them out whenever you move into a new place for a fresh clean feel.

Review by Cassie : Essential for toddlers, but one huge drawback.

I love having a toddler seat connected right to the toilet rather than messing with a separate potty chair or seat. The potty chair was constantly getting in the way and the potty rings would slide around when my son tried to sit, which freaked him out a little.PROS:1) Material is sturdy and like a very dense plastic (package says its recycled wood). I was worried that the toddler portion of the seat would be flimsy or easily crack, but this is not the case at all. I could probably sit on it myself with no problems.2) Installation was simple (instruction leaflet was included) and it fits my standard round toilet well. The seat allows one to easily remove the whole seat for cleaning by twisting the back hinges. I'm not sure how useful this will be, as I've never desired to remove a seat for cleaning before but its a neat feature (maybe I'll understand when my toddler uses the seat more consistently lol).3) The toddler seat is held firmly in place magnet when not in use. I was concerned that the magnet would be too weak and the little seat would slam down when closing or opening the lid.4) Product is attractive (for a toilet seat) and looks like a normal toilet seat with lid closed, and when opened appears well made and like a quality product. For those of you who are wondering what your guests will think when they use the restroom: no need to fear!CONS:1) As said above the magnet is strong...but maybe a little too strong. My toddler has a hard time pulling the little seat down. I think he will get it with practice, and I'd rather have too strong than too weak.2) The toddler seat seems to come off of the hinges too easily. I have had it practically fall off in my hand a couple times now when helping my son get on the potty. If I could change one thing about this seat, it would be to permanently attach the toddler seat to the hinges. I worry about what will happen if the seat ever comes loose when he is trying to use the bathroom alone.If it wasn't for this last issue, the product would get five stars. I am still deciding whether I will purchase another one of these for my second bathroom. I guess I'm hoping a non-removable one will come out.
